Re: Back after a loooonnnggg absence

Wow. I just had to use Mr. Mark Allread on about a bazillion
messages. I've missed a lot, clearly.

Welcome back :)

Hi, guys. I'm back, after a couple of months of hell. I'm still in
purgatory (I think) but that's better than it has been.

We're one of those families who lost the job last year that paid the
mortgage, and even though all the news made it sound like there were lots
of programs for people Just Like Us, there are NOT. We were foreclosed on,
lost our property (20 acres in Heaven's Willamette Valley), had to leave
behind a lot of our stuff (you cannot get a 2800 sqft house + 3 big
outbuildings into a 2 bedroom apartment. even with a really big POD. you
just can't)

Oh no, I am SO sorry to hear about that :( We went thru that very same
thing in 2001. My dh lost his job, as did 70,000 other high tech jobs got
outsourced to India, we lost our beautiful 1/3 acre home and most of our
belongings as well, lived in a hellhole for 3 years,
I can so empathize :(

And worst of all, had to rehome all of our animals. Well, actually, we can
keep 2 (and we paid the deposit for them), but I advertised all 6 cats and
1 dog and let my higher power sort out who found new homes.

I'm so sorry :(

The really good part is that ALL of them have new homes, with good people.
I was particularly touched because I was very afraid that we would have to
put Fearless (19) and Smokey (17) to sleep due to their age and health
problems, but they were the FIRST to find a home. A kind couple who live
only a few miles from our old house wanted to make sure they had a comfy,
petting-filled, lap-filled last few years. And yes, they knew about all
the health problems and the incontinence and all of that. It just made my
cry (for relief, and for the amazing kindnesses out in the world).

There ARE kind pwople out there. Bless their hearts

We currently have Cinder (14) and Little Bit (the blind 6yo), and their
new mommy will be collecting them mid-August to go live in a nice big
house out in the country in Washington state.

I'm glad Cinder and Little Bit will live here in Washington State..it is
wonderful here.

Emma went to a sweet young couple who had lost 3 (older) cats in the last
3 years and really missed having a kitty. Miss Kitty is living with 3 dogs
and no other cats, her preferred configuration. Molly the d-thing is
keeping an older couple company; they wanted a dog but did not want a
really active young dog, and they fell in love with her when they met.

awwwww

I feel very odd only have 2 owners (and soon to have none). But it is the
right thing to do right now. We need to get our feet back under us; we
can't truly afford any pets right now. On the good side, my disability
application was approved first round, although they lost my paperwork for
like 9 months, and it took me forever to fill out the next round of
papers. It is a relief to have a consistent income, even if it is rather
small.

I'm so sorry you aren't able to keep your other two and glad your disibality
finally kicked in.
Will yu be able to get 'back' disability?
We both get disability, as well. Yes, the paperwork was grueling.

So, how is everyone? I see some of you on Facebook, so I know of some of
the happenings. Is the newsgroup still alive?

Doin okay with all that's goin on. Yes, the group is still very much alive.
:)

Purrs and prayers for you, your dh and your animals and for peace in your
new home..
