I could use alot of purrs please. My mother-in-law fell two weeks ago
yesterday (2 June) and hit her head. She had a CAT scan done the day
after, when she had her regular doctor appointment <grrr>, rather than
telling anyone about the fall <double grrr>.
Today she woke with a massive headache, dizziness, and nausea. At
today's CAT scan, they discovered a brain bleed. She's been taking
her Warfarin every day (blood thinner) as well as a few other things
that thin the blood. She is currently receiving blood plasma, Vitamin
K intravenous, and something else that I have since forgotten. She
will be taken in for surgery soon.
Please, can I ask that you get your clowders up and purring for her?
I'm pretty worried.

Realizing that this is second hand, through hubby... Doctor says...
Cautiously optimistic (don't they generally?). Didn't find anything
he wasn't expecting. Found NO bleeding and NO clots, but did find
some "old blood" that had (I think hubby said) migrated to one area,
which caused her symptoms today.

She should be alright. He says her brain looks really good (that
should make her happy <smile>). He expects her to be released in 4 or
5 days, if all goes well.

Thank you *all* for helping me out.

Hospitals! My mother-in-law is neurotic about her teeth. I was
married to her son for 10 years before I knew she had full dentures
(she even has a split between her tooth front, upper teeth). She
*always* wears them, even at night. She only takes them out, in the
morning, after a shower, to brush them (even then, I'm not sure leaves
them out long). They won't give her her teeth back, and they don't
seem to understand that it upsets her.

I've had her youngest son call them (my hubby is too tired to argue),
and insist that they at least offer her the teeth back. To see if
that doesn't help her mental attitude. I know she's tired. The
surgery ended at 7:00. She slept through the night (did I mention she
hates the catheter?). She's awake this morning, and responding to
some commands (did I mention how stubborn she is?).

I'll be going by this afternoon to see how she's going.

I don't see what harm can be done by giving her her teeth back. Continuing purrs.
