This morning she did her usual tap me on the nose thing to wake me up. Gave
me a gentle nip on the shoulder to make sure I was listening. I got up and
fed her and she seemed fine. But mid morning she suddenly became very
lethargic. It didn't look like normal comfy kitty snoozing. I can't really
describe it. I went to give her some scritches and she looked up and me and
purred but she didn't "look right", if that makes any sense. She looked
even more wan, tired, and frail than usual for a cat who has been dragged to
the vet umpteen times in the last month. Rather non-responsive.
I called the vet's office. They close at noon on Wednesday but the vet said
she'd wait for us. Persia didn't even protest as I put her in the carrier.
She only issued a few small meows along the way, which is very
uncaracteristic. I got her there and the vet met me at the door and whisked
us into the exam room. She palpitated Persia all over. Listened to her
heart. Looked at her teeth and gums and at her eyes and in her ears. Then
she asked, "Can we keep her overnight or two?" Of course. Just please,
make sure she's comfortable. I gave Persia a kiss on the head and more
scritches, then watched as she put her in a kennel.
I just talked to the vet again. Persia's thyroid levels are very elevated
again. They've got her stabilized for now and the vet says she's playing
"peek-a-boo" with them from under the blanket. But my girl isn't out of the
woods yet. I'm just hoping she makes it to the appointment on April 12th.
I've never seen her like this before and it's breaking my heart.
The poor baby! Good catch, though. I know what you mean about her not
"looking right". It's good you brought her in right away.
I wonder if the medicine isn't doing its job properly?
Purrs for her to bounce back ASAP!

face whether they see a moth or an axe-murderer.
