I looked up this type of worm and learned that it's hard to eliminate
because it migrates through various organs in the cat's body so you gotta
give wormer several times over a period of weeks/months cuz the medication
only works on the ones that happen to be in the digestive tract at the time
of worming.
It's apparently not "contagious" via the litterbox unless fecal matter is
ingested, but since I have no idea *which* kitty produced the vomit I am
worming the whole clowder and the hoomins too, for safety's sake!
Pat, what kind of worm was it? Bootsie yakked up a large worm once.
But darn if
I can remember what it was. It looked at little like a grubworm. I do
remember taking
her to the vet, and I think she got drontal or that pink liquid they
always prescribe.
That was a really long time ago, not long after we got her from the
shelter.
Anyway, the point I was making was, as disgusting as it was, none of
the other
cats ever got it.
New Kitten had roundworms and tapes; we Drontal-ed everyone whether
they needed it
or not. IMO, Drontol is too expensive, and I'm thinking the vet gets a
huge markup
on that one. It was $5 per pill. Five cats, pilled twice. That's a
chunk of change.
(But it's better knowing they "problem" is resolved.)
I think that's why her stool smelled so horribly bad.
