We have a small, window-sized air conditioner. The outside and feral
cats love using it as a platform to see what we are doing, and to tell
us they are STARVING right NOW.
A couple if times a year, the apartment complex points out that window
units are against the lease and that if they are not removed by a
given date (the thirteenth of NOvember, this year), Maintenance will
stop by to remove and trash the units. This is not a popular thing,
and many people still have the units in their windows...
So now the cats have no platform. Butterscotch has resorted to
standing on his hind legs several times a day to suck in his cheeks
and look starving. Little Boy has learned to tap, tap, tap at the
window when he wants Senyah to tell me to let him in (why he won't let
HER let him in is a mystery...). Meow just sits farther back so we can
see her over the window sill, and meows at us from afar.
I expect that we'll need to slip the AC back in soon, as Texas weather
seldom stays "extreme" (management's word for 60 deg F in the day, and
40 deg F at night - heck, that's nearly PERFECT autumn weather...). We
almost always see a return to 80 deg F temps in December.
Poor kitties demand that we return their platform, as they are too
weak to stand on their hind legs.
Hugs and Purrs,
Mark
If the apartment doesn't have central A/C I find it hard to imagine (not that I doubt you) them insisting people not have window units. Yeah, folks, it's Texas. It's hot, even when it's not. (It was 78F here yesterday. Fortunately the humidity is down a bit and it was breezy so I was able to get by with just opening the windows.) Purrs for the poor starving (heh) kitties who don't have their platform anymore. Maybe management would like it better if you just stacked up some crates or boxes... I'm sure that would be much more attractive. LOL
