That's funny. First, pumkin didn't do anything so I'm off to the store
(at 7:20 am) to buy Imodium. I now remember I tried it before and it
worked great. The only problem is that Rexie, being a feral
originally, does major damage to my body when I do something he
doesn't like (trimming nails, giving flea treatment, any med
whatsoever). I will administer it out of love, but will probably have
to use an entire tube of Neosporin to treat the scratches and bites
when I'm done.
Secondly, we had a cat 20 years ago, part Siamese. Prissy. At age 15
she developed cancer. After 4 surgeries it was obvious she wasn't
going to make it so we made her as comfy as possible. About a week
before we put her down Jim had to give her some sort of med TED
insisted upon. You should have seen this (now, after disease) 5 pound
cat. Jim is 5'll, 190 lbs. He loved Prissy and was so gentle with her,
but had to insist she take this pill. He put it in her mouth, way
back, stroked her throat, she swallowed - we thought - then she spit
it out. He put it in again, under her tongue, stroked, she swallowed,
again spit it out.. He did this at least 3 times. Long story short, it
ended up that this pill turned into foam - but she still put it out.
Jim just took her to bed with him that night and the next day I (not
him, me) took her in and had her put down. Our vet was so nice. He had
cleared all his appts, and let me hold her while he gave her the shot,
then gave me his stethoscope so I could hear her heartbeat.
We knew she was dying but it was like he thought if he could get that
one pill into her it would save her.
Lordy, what we go thru for our furbabies!!

canned works fine, and better for mine, i heat it just to warm and some of
them will eat it, Trudi will only eat it if i melt butter on it, and of
course, TV the one with the poop issues, wouldn't touch it if it were the
last food on earth... Now tiger will scarf a pumpkin muffin if he gets a

pumpkin, i would get the good stuff and mix, partly to keep down the

Sheesh, I'm helpless lately, tho this wasn't my fault. My mom-in-law
came up by train the 3rd of July for the weekend. I had run out of
Purina One Weight Mgmt for my 3 indoor furbabies, Rex, Mama and Loki.
Jim offered to go to Petco and get it while he was running errands (I
was home scouring the house!)
He brings it home and fills the 18-lb container in the garage from
which I fill the 8-lb indoor container. OK, fine. That was Fri
morning. Saturday night two of the three have diahhrea !!! I check
the garage container and lo and behold, he had bought plain Purina Cat
Chow. You know what happens when you switch a cat's food all of a
sudden. And I was totally out so I couldn't go back and mix some old
with new. But both foods look alike, so I didn't notice.
Now what do I do? I can pitch the new stuff and go buy the good stuff,
but will that create the same problem? Or do I keep enuf of the new
and buy the good stuff and mix??
And I've forgotten what I'm sposed to feed to get rid of their runs.
Is it cottage cheese?
This is all Jim's fault. When his mom comes up he uses every excuse in
the book to go ot the store to "pick up something" and comes back 2
hours later. I end up keeping her amused and building up a huge
resentment for when he comes home. Why are men scared of their
mothers????
Help please (with cats, not mom-in-law !!)
Thanks in advance, Shirley B.
