It's Stage 2A Hodgkins Lymphoma. The mass in her chest is an
enlarged, inflamed lymph node, filled with cancerous cells, that is
pressing against her heart, lungs, aorta and trachea. It's

capacity of her heart and respiratory system. They are going to start
her on chemotherapy tomorrow. She'll be in the hospital for quite
some time as a precaution against disease once the chemo compromises
her immune system. She won't be going back to school until the fall.
The rest of her junior year will be spent home-schoolong.

Well, it's late and I have to go try to sleep in a bed-chair, so I'll
tell you more in the morning.

When it comes to cancer, this is actually 'good' news, since Hodgkin's
Lymphoma has a very high cure and survival rate.

That doesn't make this any easier for Brooke, or her parents and you in
the short term. But in the long term, it means she will survive, and go
on to lead a normal life.

Sending purrs that her treatment is as easy on her as possible.

I concur. My father survived non-Hodgkins Lymphoma twice at a very advanced age; that's practically unheard of. She's young and strong. That diagnosis, cure and survival rate is very strong, especially since she was diagnosed so early and so young.

Purrs continue, of course.

About 30 years ago my boss had non-Hodkins lymphoma. He went through the whole chemo treatment plus radiation. He had the day off on the treatment days but always came to work the next day. He will be 94 years old next June. The treatments have improved since then. Purrs that Brooke will have strength and a great result.

It was 44 years ago that I had my run in with cancer. MLB
