We're having our third cold day here in SW Oklahoma, wintry mix of
snow and sleet, with today's high forecast below freezing. The roads
are so bad that, for the third day now the radio is announcing a long
list of closures. It's actually so cold this morning that Sammy, who
is forever trying to dart out the door, slammed on the brakes in the
doorway, turned around and came back inside.
As usual, my neighbors left Frank outside. He spent several hours
warming up inside yesterday, then wanted out about midnight. At about
three o'clock this morning I woke up to a banging on the bedroom
window. When I looked out there was Frank, standing on his hind legs
banging on the screen to let me know he was COOLLDD and wanted IN.
Here's a few pix of the houseguest. The one's with Little Bit glaring
at him for getting in HER chair are from yesterday. From this morning
are one of him in the chair by himself, and one of Princess keeping a
close eye on him from above.http://tinyurl.com/22pfn8
OT note: Yesterday afternoon when I went to take out the trash I fell.
The parking lot was wet and, as I discovered covered in ice. It left
me with a skinned knee and bruised hip, but could have been worse. I
caught myself on the way down on a truck, not sure what I caught
myself on, probably the bumper, but it ripped the sleeve cuff off my
jacket.

First, I am sorry you fell. I heard from another rpca reg that they
had a
hard fall on the black ice yesterday, and like you, broke nothing but
are
sore as hell now. This is no comfort but the recently former Floridian
in MileHigh has now perfected the art and science of motivating on all
kinds of ice/snow mixtures not only in her "snow boots" from Canada
but also, recently, in high-top sneakers without the gripping power
of
the boots. LOL I don't motivate very fast at all, and the natives
stare,
but when anyone offers to "help" the hopitus, they're quickly nixed by
the snorks, thank you. I take such offers as an affront to my many
efforts and means to appear younger. Walking slow on ice does not
qualify one as 'handicapped" AFAIC. And HTH would they "hellp" me,
anyway? I am not small, ROFLMAO and that would be a trip for sure.
We in MileHigh sent you the nasty weather but here it snows bigtime
first and very rarely any "freezing rain" (whatever that may
be....here
it is little round ice cubes that sting you called "hail"....) and not
"Hail
Mary" either.
Blessings of all sorts from Bast the MotherCat to you and yours for
your kindness and affection to Frank, whose foolish hoomins have
less understanding of harsh winter weather than I do, to leave such
a fine and beautiful boy out in the cold OUT with no regard for his
happines or comfort, let alone safety. Frank is very luck to have you.
Lay low like we do, stay inside, drink whatever works and recover
from your bad fall. I have not fallen yet, but my day may be coming.
I think of this walking skill as "walk like a zombie". It seems to
work.
