The vet called yesterday about Lindy's blood tests. The good news is
that her
thyroid tested normal, meaning her dosage is correct.
The bad news is that her kidney values are in the high normal range, and
the
doctor wants to change her food and give her twice daily capsules.
The BUN was 31 (Normal 15-34) and the Creatine, which is the one she
found
worrying, was 2.2 (Normal 0.8 - 2.3).
I'm supposed to change her feeding schedule from plenty dry food out all
the
time and 1/4 can of wet food once a day to 1/3 can of wet food three
times a day, and a small amount of K/D dry food out. I can sprinkle the
contents of the capsules on the food, but the food is to be picked up if
she doesn't eat it. She said not to leave it out, but not how long it's
okay to leave it out.
Oh well. I'm not completely broke yet. I don't know what I'll do when I
am, but I guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
Oh, yes. She may decide that Lindy needs to be hydrated once a week.
She
had said I'd need to bring her in for that, but when I told her I've done
it
before, she said that's fine. I'm glad, because I know this is one area
where DIY is definitely cheaper.
I sure hope she'll eat the food with the medication on it, because
changing
her food and giving her the thyroid medication twice a day is enough for
both of us to deal with.
