My doctor is now waffling about whether or not I need surgery. Funny,
a month ago he was certain of it. Now I'm getting double-talk. He
says, "You may never have this problem again. Or it could come back
tomorrow. Surgery will fix that, except it could still come back even
with surgery. But it might not. What do you want to do?"

Hello? I think he's figured out I don't have health insurance. At
least if I decide to have the surgery I won't have to wear a collar
like this kitty!

I think you hit the nail. I never heard anyone quote the likelihood of
DVlosis coming back as being much at all. Once the most narrow portion
of bowel is removed I expect it is not likely to develope elswhere. That
fact that you experienced a perforation would sure push me toward
surgery. I don't know how extensive it is but maybe you have a very
small portion of bowel involved so they consider it a lower risk
situation? Having said all that I think the "no insurance" _is_ in doc's
mind, perhaps for his benefit, perhaps for your's.
