Good luck on your CT Scan!

kili <------- who's had a million CT scans.

Thanks!

Going in the morning. I think this place will give me films. They
did when I got an mri for my inner ear. The last CT was in the
hospital and they did not give me anything so this will be my first
chance to see what the diverticulitis looks like on a scan.

I've never received a film from a scan because it's a 3-D image they have to
view (put together) on a computer. I've asked for a print-out of an image,
which was obliged, however. See if they can do that. CT scans are really,
really wonderful diagnostic images. I never mind having one done because
they tell so much.

411 from the newsroom for Andy -
I recently had a plain spine xray and took home a cd which I viewed on
the PC
at home. Hospitals of any large size and the VA medical system was
first to
be the bellwether for this - are converting to filmless radiology -
that is "digital"
pics, which is what I had, so there *were* no films in actuality, the
images are
stored digitally in the dept. databases. I see no reason why you
couldn't get a
cd of your exam in CT - they didn't charge me a penny for my plain
exam.
Smaller hospitals and especially, freestanding doc's offices - with
the one
exception of radiology doc's offices (they get better prices from
vendors) are
still slow to make the transition and continue to use xray film for
their exams.
Converting to the new digital system costs big bucks.
