I've not updated about KFC for a while now. She's doing really well atm.
She will not eat anything except "real chicken" unfortunately - I worry
about feeding her exclusively on her "ultimate favourite food" as there
will be nothing to tempt her if she deteriorates again, and I do wish I
could get her back on to cat food, but I can't.
1. Please stop falling down stairs. It does nothing to increase your
life span.
I know. I fell over Boyfriend the first time. Broke my ribs. He was
winding round my legs as I was preparing his food, tripped me up. I was
anxious not to harm him by treading on him so that made me fall on to my
kitchen trolley. If I hadn't cared about hurting him I would have been
okay, I guess.
One of the most painful injuries I have ever had. Good old June had to come
to the rescue. I could not even step into my porch to get cat food, let
alone see to my chickens. The food I had on the worktop for the cats I had
to throw onto the floor.
Three days back at work from that, I fell down the stairs carrying an armful
of laundry, I stepped on the sleeve of something that was dangling.
Shoulder, wrist and neck.
2. Glad KFC is doing so much better. She has a huge fan club both in
here and at my house. I always have to read her updates to Rob and Mandy.
I suspect the owners listen in as well. We love to hear about the little
things she does to keep her life going on her terms.
Well, that's so nice. Thank you. She is a very brave little cat.
3. Just a suggestion, and I'm sure you've heard it before. We keep a
supply of those little jars of canned meat for babies around in case one
of the owners gets sick. Not being from the Great State of Britain, I
don't know how your baby food is packaged, but even with some vegetables
in it, it would help KFC if she'll eat it. The big thing is to keep her
dining.
It's been suggested before, yes. We don't seem to have canned meat for
babies here in the UK. We do have little jars of vegetable and turkey gloop
which I tried last time her appetite was out of the window. The verdict was
no, are you mad?
4. How are Sir Francis Drake and all those chickens of yours doing?
Thursday evening a friend and I are on the hunt for 2 wives for Francis
Drake. He will need at least two - don't ask..
This is the friend I got FD from in the first place, and he thinks he
remembers where he got his original Lavender & white Muscovy ducks from, so
we will be wandering around a small village 30 miles away looking for a
house he recognises. Should be fun.
Chickens are okay, getting old now, I've put my name down for 6 ex-battery
hens.
How is
Boyfriend? I'm a member of his fan club too.
He's fine. He has grown into a big beautiful cat. While the weather is
warm he likes to be out most of the time - when I say warm I don't mean the
sort of temperatures you get. Top temp here today 69f.
I'm not sure what he's up to out there, but he is perfectly safe so I like
to let him do it. I think he has a good life here. He comes and goes as he
pleases, does a bit of mousing (the ratties are getting too big, time to get
the terrier men in again) checks his food bowl frequently and sleeps on the
spare bed. He is a charming cat with a wonderful temperament.
Well, yes, you cannot move from dogs to cats without your brain exploding
5. When KFC moved in, did you ever think that your life would change in
so many different ways, some of them directly caused by her?
because you don't understand why you can tell a dog not to get up on your
worktop "twice" and it will never do it again and you can expect to do it
for the rest of your life for cats.
It's been a real learning curve.
