You are right about the stuff to make bread costing so much. I did
that for years and Flour and sugar have nearly doubled in price. If
it doesn't go down, I may not feed the hummingbirds next year. I
have so many, because of the flooding, many flowers have been wiped
out for the year, I am using about 20 pounds of sugar a week. Is
worth it to me as I enjoy them so as do the neighbors.

Unfortunately, I think this is only the tip of the iceberg. Gas
prices, as hard as they are for the individual, are eating away
business' profits. And very soon the large corporations, who
don't have to close their doors, are going to pass that cost on
to the consumer and we can expect to be paying $10 for a gallon
of milk or a loaf of bread.

$5 for a gallon of milk and $2.50 for generic bread. The good
stuff is selling for $3.00/loaf. And our prices are down to
between $3.74 to $3.87 per gallon.

Pam S. thinking that making her own bread might be cost effective
again.

Mmmmmmm, I *lurve* home-made bread. But we'll probably be paying
so much more for the *ingredients* soon that it will be almost as
costly. I just hope we can get a handle on our economy after the
upcoming election.

This is the first year I've convinced Charlie to let the feeders go
as long as we have tons of trumpet vine and honeysuckle and other
flowers in bloom. He can fill them again when the flowers slow down.
