We are gathering animal, cat and dog food, to send over to Indiana and will be put out to feed animals that have been displaced by the flood. Wherever the guys see a group of cats or dogs, they will put out food. Animals are too scared to come too close. At least it is something I can do to help.

We're ok where we are, but a lot of humans and animals are being
horribly impacted by flooding. All across the midwest rivers are
overflowing and houses are being destroyed. 250 miles of the
Mississippi River is being closed to traffic because the water levels
are too high for the locks and gates to manage.

Just outside the city limits of Des Moines, IA the Saylorville Lake
dam is about to give out. Last time the area had major flooding the
dam had an extension bladder added, giving them the ability to
increase the height of the dam by 6 feet in emergencies. The bladder
has been deployed and the water is now 3 feet high on the extension.
It's expected that the lake will overtop the extension by Wednesday.
The Red Cross has set up evacuation centers, as there are many homes
endangered by the dam.

Let's send purrs to those currently in danger and to those who will be
in danger in coming days.

Yeah, my sister is having major problems. The flooding has gotten so bad that the sewer pipelines can't hold the water and are bursting. They live on a tiny hill, so they're able to take their dog out in the back, but their driveway is completely under water and they're getting water some damage inside the house.

Purrs to everyone in this situation.

By law, rescuers are required to rescue pets as well as humans now, so most pets (dogs, cats, birds and small citters) are on dry ground and safe, but may not be with their slaves :(
