Yeah, I know there's something else is going on and
sometimes the dratted thing just crashes on me for no reason. .
At least I haven't gotten the BSOD <G>
I've had DH to check it out, he, being the pooter xpert for over 25 years.

Kyla, I have vista and have had no problems thus far. You got some other
thing going on there. Get it checked out.

Today when I opened OE to check email and newsgroups, I saw that a
change had been made. The most recent newsgroup I subscribed to is
no longer on the list. My other five groups are listed, but each
showed thousands of unread messages, going way back into the past.
I know what you mean. Don't you hate it when that happens?
It makes me want to throw my laptop out the window. Somebody from
the Floyd group e-mailed me and told me not to install Windows Vista
and why.
knowledge and experience to back that statement up. Too many people
jump on the Windows-bashing bandwagon who have never actually used
the product(s) they're bashing. I know a LOT of Mac users who swear
Windows whatever-version sucks, but when questioned it turns into a
"well, no, I never used it but my 3rd cousin's best friend's wife
did" sort of thing. LOL
I've had absolutely no problems with Vista on this PC. I would
caution you (Kyla) against upgrading to Vista. You've mentioned
several times you've been having lots of problems with your PC. You
need to determine and fix the cause of those issues before doing
*anything* else! Yours could be anything from a hardware problem to
inadequate RAM. Your system could just need to be swept for (and
programs installed to guard against) spyware, adware, etc. The hard
drive should be optimized periodically and you shouldn't set your
browser to allow cookies (little trails left by many websites you
visit) by default, either. It's essential to have a good AV
(anti-virus) program running at all times and to keep the virus
definitions current. Firewalls are also a good idea. Throwing an
opsys upgrade on top of existing problems certainly won't help. Jill
Yeah, I know that Jill. DH has been a computer expert for over 25
years and has taught me a LOT of stuff. Thank you so much for
advice. It is greatly appreciated:)

group" bothered me a bit. I did software tech support and QA (quality
assurance software testing) for a long time. I was merely trying to
head off a knee-jerk "don't do it!" reaction to something some person on
the "Floyd" group said, without knowing why on earth they'd say that :)
Know what I mean?
ah, yes, yes I do:)
And no, please don't ask him/her to come in here to explain it. As long
as you know you need to address immediate issues first, don't worry
about Vista :)
Jill
No worries:)
