Its federal election night here and 3 of the 5 free-to-air TV channels are
not coincidentally, are showing election coverage.
Of the two free to air channels not covering the election, the commercial
channel, there's The Empire Strikes Back, and on the not-for-profit
channel is showing their usual weird overseas stuff.
So Joel decides he's going to watch Empire.
Except that the channel Empire Strikes Back happens to be on has pretty
lousy reception - you can still see the picture but it has snow and a
'ghost'.
So Joel opens up our 'box set', gets out the Empire Strikes Back DVD that
has sat there, untouched, for a good 5 years or so, and pops it into the
DVD player so he can watch it "with a better picture".
Whats worse is that he fiddled around with it until the DVD was in sync
was with the free-to-air broadcast (missing the first 10 minutes fo th
movie in the process) and is *pausing* the DVD in the ad-breaks so it
stays in sync with the free to air transmission.
I just want to know *why* after 5 years of not touching the thing, does he
have to play it tonight, and I have no clue as to why it has to be in sync
with the broadcast...
And I thought Shmogg was strange...
