I'll never forget my father proclaiming fax machines were a "fad". This is
the same man who said FedEx would never catch on because "Who needs a
package delivered overnight?" Gee, Dad, do you think the light bulb will
stick around for a few more years? LOL

It's not off-topic, because it was one of those reposts sites (like
catbanter), but originally posted to *this* group! (We were talking
about early computer experiences.)

Too weird!

Interesting! You never know where your name might pop up! A number of
years ago a former co-worker was bored one day and decided, for some reason,
to Google [don't you love how that has turned into a verb now?] my name.
Imagine his surprise to find not only a bunch of recipes but also a photo!
He emailed me. I'm glad I got to correspond with him, however briefly. He
was diagnosed with cancer and died just a couple of years ago :(

Jill

I'm so sorry to hear that, Jill. But it is great that you were able to have some contact with him before he crossed over.

When I was first on the Internet as we know it today, I was searching (wasn't on Google at this point in time; I think Alta Vista was the search engine of choice then) for something or other, and ran across a friend from grade school through high school, Don Crabb. We e-mailed, and he gave me his phone number, but money was so tight, I couldn't justify making a long-distance call. And the next thing I knew, he had died :-( I'll always regret not calling him. He was a cat person, too.

who also had no idea that Don was known as a "Mac Master" and was a friend of Roger Ebert!
