Folks here may not care but there are more and more irritating
nonsense posts on other newsgroups and the majority of them are
coming from gmail users. So I've just killfiled the entire
domain (for the time being). School is about to let out (it's
already out in some places) and it will only get worse. So if
you're posting from a gmail address I won't see your posts
unless someone replies to them. Sorry!
I don't see that - on the other hand, there IS a lot of spam from
groups.google.com (and the non-spam messages from there are so
unreadably formatted you might want to killfile them anyway). The
two services are independent.
I don't see a real spam epidemic from either one. I did a quick
check over the
last five days, and there were four postings. Certainly not
unmanageable to
just ignore. Am I just not seeing them?
I did say it's happening mostly in other ngs. And it's sad really;
they are posting stuff about Britney Spears' boobs (I don't even
know what she looks like, boobs or not) and other ludicrous stuff.
It's coming from teens in floods now that school is out. I got
tired of killfiling individuals (they crosspost like mad, too) and
the cross-posted replies so for now, for my sanity, I've just
silenced the domain in total.

I have a few filters in place, if the subject contains certain words
like
Britney or $$$ they are automatically deleted so I never see them.

Oh, now *that* would be handy. Eventually you'd weed out a great deal
of it, and that would work
on any post no matter what the address/origin.
Sherry
Unfortunately on these other ng's I'm referring to the subjects are
allegedly on topic but the message content is not! Not to worry, I'll get
over it in a few months when the kids go back to school :)
