Does Rita need a kitten?

Rita's lonely. I'm sure of it now. She wants me to play with her on
the new cat tree. Oh, there are times when she's okay sleeping, but
she doesn't even like to eat unless I'm there with her. I kept
finding her teddy bear and stuffed kitten and all of her mousies in
her kibble bowl, but now that I've moved it out to the dining room,
that doesn't happen. I thought she was trying to feed them, but now
I'm sure she was just bringing them in for company.
*sigh* I don't really want a 2nd cat. I'm allergic. Not badly, but
I'm sure a 2nd cat would make it worse. But she's lonely! She hated
the 6-month kitten (Stormy) that walked in the door, so I thought if
maybe I could find a little 8-week kitten, she'd accept that.
Do you think it would work? I'd have to find a rescue group (there
are plenty of them here) that would let me give the kitten back if it
doesn't work out. I just have to see if a baby of her own would make
her happier.
