What a way to start the weekend

I know I don't post very much anymore, but some purrs would be great
towards this end.

Friday night I tumbled as I was stepping off a porch onto the ground,
twisted my ankle shattering one bone and breaking my leg. Long story
short yesterday morning I was in surgery acquiring a new set of
permanent jewelry. Nine screws, and two plates. I'm not in much pain,
a dull throb I can ignore between pain pills. Fiberglass splint until
the doctor pulls out my staples next week and then I get a real cast.

Ian has it the worst. He has been fighting a sinus infection. So
missing me for two days has not been fun for him At All. Mom is going
to help me out and take him to the pediatrician for me Monday. So
hopefully we'll get him back to being healthy soon. We own our own
business (well Dad does) so it's going to be easy for Jody to stick
close to home with no overnight trips for a while. And Mom doesn't
work so I have lots of help.

It's the little things though that are going to make it tough. Ian and
I are used to running around uptown alot. He's a go baby. I can't
drive, not even if the doc said a little bit because it's my right
leg.

The good news is that I'll heal and will walk without a cane someday.
The bad news is that while there was that amount of good news, the
doctor was still fairly grim and cautionary that the way the placement
of the screws fell, I'm going to be severely limited from certain
things. I had been telling Jody for months I wanted a bicycle for
Mother's Day with an attachable kiddie sidecar/trailer so Abi with her
new bike, Ian and I with mine could take summer rides. That's going to
have to be put off a year. :(

I can't get it through Mutt's head though that it's not necessary to
sit on top of my leg. Beside it, is sufficient. It's amusing to wonder
if she recognizes the hard smelly thing attached to my leg and if she
remembers having one of her own twice before. I love my d-pet
nursemaid. The cats... to put this post on topic I'm afraid gives
Waffles a run for her money. Lunatic brings up at least one mole four
or five times a week. Never mice, always moles. Jingle will
occasionally offer a mouse. They could care less over my leg ;)

Grace

PS Ian will be a year old on the 8th
