Since Menu Foods, Inc. announced its massive pet food recall on March 16,
the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center has been flooded with calls from pet
parents and animal welfare professionals alike. Based on data from these
calls, the ASPCA reports that clinical signs in cats affected by the
contaminated foods are not fully consistent with the ingestion of rat poison
containing aminopterin which, says Menu Foods, is at the "root" of the
contamination issue.

You're correct about that. We caught the end of last night's TV news
just in time to hear that a Hill's dry cat food was also being
recalled by the company as a precaution, but missed the details. We've
been feeding our cats Hill's Science Diet dry cat food on the
recommendation of our vet, so I Googled Hill's website and got this
report. It says the regular dry cat food we use is not affected by the
recall, only their "Prescription Diet m/d Feline Dry Food", because
it's the only product they make containing a wheat gluten which is the
source of the contamination issue. To be sure we checked the
ingredients on our cats' food bag, and it says it contains corn
gluten, but not wheat gluten.
