It's a statistic thing. You're only allowed 6 months on unemployment,
and a large number of unemployed people have recently dropped off the
rolls and into welfare.

Hence, unemployment is down, but welfare is up! Funny how they don't
track that.

If you quit work voluntarily you don't get unemployment compensation.
If you are fired "with cause" you don't get unemployment compensation.
Not all workers are covered. It isn't easy to get a check from the
state when you are out of work.
