Our downstairs neighbours asked me to feed their cat for a week so of
course I said I would... Lola is a little sweety and the only time you
see much of her is if you're the person feeding her - she's an
indoor-outdoor semi-feral and when they go away she has to live
outside... poor baby. I feel so sorry for her because she spends a lot
of time crying on their doorstep and saying 'let me in, let me in' but
they're not home, and being a semi-feral she can't be left inside
alone... anyway, I put her food and water out for her in bowls and
she's very happy to get some lovings while she eats. The only problem
is that the apartment complex has ducks. Not a lot of ducks, but some
of the new tennants feed them right in front of their apartment
doors... so the ducks have become very greedy, bold and demanding.
Yesterday morning I took Lola's food downstairs and there were two big
fat ducks chasing her away from her foodbowl, and since they're about
four times the size of her there wasn't anything she could do to stop
them. Poor baby!

I put her food dish down outside OUR door upstairs and picked her up
and carried her upstairs to eat her lunch on the landing. She was fine
with being picked up but she started squirming when I carried her
upstairs and saying 'help, I'm being kidnapped!' but she was happy to
see her dish of food and she had a good nosh. After she finished she
sat on our doorstep, so I said 'no sweety, you can't stay here' and I
picked her up and started to carry her downstairs again, but she
squirmed so I put her down and she went away under her own power. I'm
hoping that she'll remember to come upstairs again when she gets
hungry.
