Sounds like you're going through the same drill I went though with
Rocky - though with Rocky it took a couple years before I could
touch him. I had the same fear that he'd disappear and never come

I took him in to be neutered, but he forgave me almost immediately.

I think the reason Rocky forgave me so quickly may have been because
he was so glad to get home. I boarded him overnight the night before
surgery and the surgery was delayed, so he ended up spending an
extra night. The whole time he was there he refused to eat, drink,
or use
the litter box. So when I brought him home he was so happy to be
rescued from TED's place he seemed to forget who took him there in
the first. place.

I think I'll have to board Shadow overnight, there's no way I can
guarantee
he won't eat before I take him in.


I still think you are doing it too soon. Please, please, PLEASE
wait. You just managed to touch him and now you want to race him off
to the vet to get him neutered before he even trusts you. He will
probably run away when you get him back from the vet and why wouldn't
he?
Do wait until you have a much better relationship unless you want to
lose him. It's far too soon to think about catching him. Took
months with Boyfie, be more patient.
Wait until Shadow is confident with you and will let you pick him up,
okay it will will take a long time, but by then he will trust you,
you can take him to the vet and he will stay will you when he comes
back.

I intend to wait a few more weeks, but I still think he'll have to spend
the
night a the vets. I think it will be a long time before he comes into the
house, and if did Snoopy would probably chase him out again.

You might be surprised if Snoopy has encountered him in the garden, she will
then be used to him, just like Kitty with Boyfriend. Kitty would never let
any cat into her garden, but she did let BF in and it was no big deal when
he came into the house. I can't say she was pleased - as she thought she'd
got the house to herself - and she does bop him a bit, but generally they
get on pretty well. Mainly because BF sez "ok, KFC, whatever you say." He
ain't daft.

It's amusing, he is twice her size. He realises it isn't a good idea to get
on the bad side of Kitty Farmcat. Even I wouldn't like to.
