Sounds like you're going through the same drill I went though with
Rocky - though with Rocky it took a couple years before I could touch
him. I had the same fear that he'd disappear and never come back when
I took him in to be neutered, but he forgave me almost immediately.
I think the reason Rocky forgave me so quickly may have been because
he was so glad to get home. I boarded him overnight the night before
surgery and the surgery was delayed, so he ended up spending an extra
night. The whole time he was there he refused to eat, drink, or use
the litter box. So when I brought him home he was so happy to be
rescued from TED's place he seemed to forget who took him there in the
first. place.
