Re: OT need advice little bit of a rant

YOU GO NMR!!! About time! It is your house, and you are absolutely right,
this woman is not respecting you. No offence meant to your lovely wife, but
there will be no peace for anyone if those dogs are around. I am sure she
feels sorry for the woman, and wants her to have a nice time, and be a part
of the family, but a bit of give and take is needed here! hope you have a
lovely easter!

It is actually my daughter in law mother. Her parents are gone, my
mother is still alive but very old my father has been gone for awhile.
I just told the family my plans the are a little upset a few words have
been said. I walked to my front door after putting the cats up and said
HE IS THE DOOR IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT don't let the door knob hit you where
the god lord split ya. My wife asked me to give in and have peace. I
told her peace is not having the house in turmoil for any reason. I said
all of the family will stay in hotels this year. I told her the ones that
can't afford to follow my plans. I will take care off personally.

My daughter in law said I was being a stubborn a@@ I confronted her and
said why yes I am, it is my house. This is your mother you all have a
nice house with extra rooms. I know this because that was your wedding
gift. If you want her to stay with family she can stay with you. THIS IS
OUR HOUSE you want someone to come in and upset the household go ahead.
I do it every holiday for our family, I cook ( which I love to do ) I have
everyone stay over night so they can have fun and don't have to worry
about driving but enough is enough. Everyone who comes here respects the
fact this is my house. You can house your mother since she does not
respect me or household. She started in on me and my son stood up and
said he is right and if you have a problem with this I suggest you go tell
your shrink. He took her by the arm told her to sit down and listen to
him that this is going to be this way if she does not like they can go
spend Easter Sunday at her mother instead. She shut up and left., I told
my our son about time you got so balls.

My wife was still pissed off but I said flatly that I am getting older
still have not recovered fully from my problem. Lets have a peaceful time
this year. She finally agreed and said I was right but she just wanted to
keep the peace.Which I agree with but I said sometimes you just have to
walk tall. I know I ain't getting none for a while

You all know I tell it how it is but this deals with family.

My daughter in laws' mother and father are coming for Easter no
problem
there with the husband. The problem is she has those little wiener dogs
2
of them plus 2 palmaramians ( ??? ) and she does not go anywhere
without
them. Both the dogs are spoiled so bad if they do something wrong she
gives
them a treat and tells them it is alright. Also both dogs have very bad
bathroom habits

Last year she came with them unannounced and tried to come into the
house even though Shelly ( the daughter in law) told her not to try it.
She knows I have cats but her thoughts are I am a guest accommodate me
no
matter what. My thoughts were and are this is their house too and your
are
the unwelcome unannounced guest. The live here you are just visiting
unannounced why should they have to be put out because of you. She left
and
did not come back. Even though the husband told her she was being an
a@@
right in front of us.

I had offered to let the dogs stay on the Florida room but no they
have
to be in her sight at all times. I offered for all of us to go out there
and
enjoy the day but that was not satisfactory for her. I love my cats to
death but would never show up with them unannounced unless it was an
emergency. Let alone try to force them down someone throats

Well my son and daughter in law are asking for her to come to the
house
for Easter dinner since as you all know that I am a cook and do big blow
outs on holidays. On Easter weekend we have a 2 day celebration we all
get
together Saturday night have fun get up in the morning and go do our
thing
for the day than have a real family Sunday dinner.

Here is a problem the kids want her to stay at the house
overnight
with everyone. I have put my foot down and said no way she wants to
bring
the dogs she can stay at a hotel like everyone else that does not want
to
stay for the overnight part. I have said the dogs will be put up
whether
she likes it or not

My better half want to make the kids happy. Our son and daughter
want
me too. I am ohh to willing to compromise and setup a place for the
dogs
such as the Florida room or a bedroom. When we have guest that are not
used
to cats. I put the furballs up into their room so they won't bother
anyone.
She wants the dogs with her at all times which includes at the dinner
table
and where ever we go. I told her we don't even let out cats do this and
they rule the house.

So there is the problem I am willing to compromise. I want to keep
peace
but I am not willing to allow the dogs free reign of the house. I am
almost
ready to say heck with Easter weekend and all of us do our thing on
Sunday
and we met at a restaurant. If someone does not like the place they can
go
where they want. Save the hassle completely and I don't even have to
cook

Help!!!!!!!!!! advice needed. Thanks for letting me rant

Matthew

My MIL does this with her dog, Buffy. Every June we go to Tennessee for
a
week and stay with my MIL's brother, Chuck. Chuck has 3 completely
spoiled
dogs, but my MIL insists that she brings her dog - who doesn't get along
with other dogs. So, Chuck ends up locking *his* 3 dogs out of the house
so
my MIL can keep Buffy by her side. Hey, I have to find someone to watch
my
three cats while we're gone, can't she find someone to watch her darn
dog?

Chuck feeds his dogs a mixture of canned and dry food, Buffy only eats
canned. His dogs want what Buffy is eating. If Buffy has to go outside
to
go potty, Chuck has to hold his dogs back in one doorway to let them in,
while my MIL goes out another door with Buffy. If my MIL goes outside
without Buffy, Buffy cries and cries and cries annoying us to no end.
Buffy
even goes into the bathroom with her when she takes a shower! This is a
part lab, part doberman mix, too; not a small dog!

It's completely stressful! The whole "vacation" ends up in snarly
dogfights
that we have to break up.

I can appreciate the fact that people love their pets so much that they
want
to take them with when on a trip, but if it's this complicated for the
host
and any other guests, it's not worth it.

Can you ask your wife to politely suggest to her mother that if she
brings
her "babies" it will upset your household and can she find other
accomodations for her dogs?

kili <--------- off on her own rant. :~)
