Can believe people were stupid enough to get out of their cars and try to feed a wild animals

They do it in with the buffalo where I'm from too. Stupid gits.

And how many tourists STILL try to feed the bears in Yellowstone Park? We had a Lion Country Safari here, too - I thought the San Diego Zoo had taken it over (and called it "Wild Animal Park"). Did it move to Florida, instead, and the San Diego Zoo start its own?

They had more than just lions at the time, ostriches and (I think ) giraffes, too. I remember driving through in a non-airconditioned car (in August, in Southern California). The animals had the right of way, so cars often had to stop until they'd crossed the road. A flock of ostriches held us up, not only crossing the road, but surrounding the car - one of them seemed determined to confront my mother through the car window, bending it's long neck and making eye contact. (They sure have l-o-n-g eyelashes!)

The rest of us were in hysterics, but Mom was not amused! Due to the lack of air-conditioning, we were all totally drenched in sweat by the time we reached the exit. However, if we hadn't obeyed instructions about keeping windows rolled up, we might have had an ostrich with us, too! (Probably in Mom's lap - that bird really did seem taken with her.) ;-)
