Re: Update on macaw on eggs.

Louis, you definitely win the prize for the most tolerant keeper I've run into. Sounds like they allow you to keep your stuff in their space. The nest description is a hoot.

It's not tolerance. It's resignation. I really shouldn't be a bird owner. I can't stand being around caged birds. None are clipped, all are free to fly. Keeping birds was my wifes hobby, now she's to ill to care for them. I just noticed the birds in the room. A BCC on my left shoulder cuddled against my ear. A White front amazon on my left knee. The scarlet is on the floor at my feet nipping lightly at my shoe. The male B&G is on a perch three feet from right shoulder and the female B&G is below him on her "nest". They're all quiet at the moment. It's actually pleasant.

When he's sleeping out with the SM would be your best chance to get the eggs. I'd probably opt for a large cardboard barrier to pressure her out of the nest and keep her off the eggs and away from me while I grab them, put them in a cushy container and take them into another room for inspection. Then go through the same steps to replace them if they are fertile.

I've decided to let the female B&G make that decision. I'm not going to disturb the eggs unless she quits defending them.

Is poop a big problem with these guys having free run of the place?

I'm having a new house built. It should be finished in three or four months. I've designed it to be bird proof with steel walls inside and out and epoxy painted concrete floors. It will be pressure washable on the inside with drains built into the floors. My present house? Bird poop is no problem. Its only on the walls and floor, hardly any on the ceilings. My house cleaning tools consist of a mop and broom, a garden hoe, and a shop vac. After I move and the next forest fire comes though the area I'm hoping it will burn to the ground. The damage the birds have done to the interior isn't worth repairing.

Sure hope they don't have your credit card number with that computer on 24 x 7.
No problem. I don't allow any Microsoft computers access from the Internet.
