Make sure that the cage is inside a relatively safe room (no open windows,
wires, things that could fall down, etc.). When he eventually comes out of
the cage, he will probably go back inside it by himself if his food and
water are inside. To him, his cage is his home and it is probably where he
feels most comfortable, so it will be natural for him to go back in, or at
least hang out on top of the cage.

If you have trouble and really need to force him back inside, you can try
using a wood stick - gently push it across his stomach and he will likely
step up on it, then you can put him inside the cage.

But the most important thing is what I said earlier - make sure the room is
safe and that he cannot escape out of the house or hurt himself crashing
into something.
