Re: How to protect pigeons from hawks

It was hard but I took out the eggs a couple of days ago. No regrets.
They are acting more like the outside pigeons. Leave the garage and
not come back for hours at a time. I made up my mind to provide them
food, water and shelter until spring and throw out the eggs because
letting them start a family in the cold of the winter would make no
sense. Csapi (the weaker of two) adjusted nicely to outside life and
comes back, with his two mates (more like buddies), to eat and drink
only. I have food and water under the roof overhand. When they were
babies, they used to take baths together in a 12" pan I had in the
garage. I bought another pan and put it under the roof overhand.
Pötyi (the stronger one) and his mate came out of the garage but did
not try to chase Csapi away. They all took turns taking baths and
eating. We watched them for about 20 minutes until they left to go
wherever pigeons go. It was grand! I do not know what tomorrow brings
but yesterday was special. It was good to see the two brothers not
fighting.
