We put Tucson in the reaview mirror on Friday and looked at lots and
lots of stinking desert.
Stopped in Nye county NV for fireworks. Signed a form that said I knew
that the only place I could legally set them off in NV was in the lot north
of the fireworks store. According to a sign on a building attached to the
convience store there the infamous Dennis Hof is opening a new cathouse
there soon.

A young woman who looked to be about 14 or 15 asked her parents what
a cathouse was. I wan't able to stifle a quick laugh. We passed up the
opportunity to buy Area 51 souviniers.
Drove through more damn stinking desert and past what must have been
half the whore houses in NV. Started getting rain around Reno and put NV in
the rearview mirror a little while later. We were happy to get into high
deset, but it's still desert.
We had an excellent dinner at Sergio's in Klamath Falls. Sergio's is
a Mexican food place with lots of seafood on the menu. It was as good as
anything I ate in Mexico or the SW. I had Sergio's special, which is real
crab and fish on rice. Yum! Stopped at a road side place in Chemult that had
clam strips on the menu--a rarity in AZ. I never found them in a store and
they're seldom seen in restaurants.Hooray, I'm back in country that
appreciates seafood.
It was raining and cool in Klamath Falls. I loved that too.
Highway 58 was closed at the Salt river tunnel so we drove on into
Bend and across the Cascades on Highway 20. It was snowing on the Willamette
pass. Wet snow, but snow none the less.
I was thrilled to drive back into temperate rainforest. Saw lots of
Triliums. I may buy a rhododenron so I can consume it every way you can
consume a plant, including rubbing it all over my body. We're in the
Portland area now. It's supposed to rain buckets tonight and tomorrow. I'm
looking forward to it. :-)
Who says cats are hard to train? By the second day our Bengals had
figured out that when we started dressing in the morning to was time to try
to hide and avoid the cat carriers. It didn't work. They're hiding under the
bed right now, but the joke is on them. They aren't going anywhere for
awhile.
