My wife and I are considering a trip down the East Coast this fall. We have several questions and I am sure we will get some suggestions from this group. We will travel with a fifth wheel trailer.
#1- We want to travel from Maine to Florida - How much time do we need to plan for? Maybe we need to split it into multiple trips.
That all depends upon your personal preferences. Some folks only go 200 miles a day and others have no problem driving 500 or more miles per day.
#2 - When is the best time to make this trip in the fall?
I'd go as early as possible because many campgrounds in the Northeast close in early October.
See above
#3 - Will we have problems finding camping sites in October?
#4 - What are some of the sights we should plan to see?
This is unanswerable. There are too, too many things to see. A huge amount of the history of this great country is along the east coast. The scenery is varied and beautiful either close to the Atlantic shore or further inland near the mountains and hills.
#5 - Now for the big question. Are there recommendations for restaurants as we make this trip.
Go to www.roadfood.com
We may never do this again or we may like it so well that we will spend more time in the East.
Thanks for your suggestions!
Chuck,
I think we might be of more help if your questions were not so general and covering such a huge chunk of the country.
