Hammers can also be used to make human thumbs appear the size, shape
and color of ripe plums.

OM,

Years ago, Me and another guy were building a house..
A young guy, about 19 yrs. old, came by looking for a job.

We put him to work even though he was kind of clumsy.

We were working one day and he hit his thumb and
it started bleeding and swelling up...

We went to lunch later and the boy stayed on the job
saying he was going to work a little longer...

We came back from lunch and there this boy
was sitting on the tailgate of my truck with a wet
rag around his thumb and sweat pouring off him.

I ask him what was wrong and he said:
" I hit the Sumbitch again.!! "

It looked like yer ripe Plum !!

When I was a boy I worked in my father's grocery store. Across
the street there was a commotion one day. A man tore off the end
of his finger with his lawn mower. Apparently a branch had
gotten caught in it, and the guy tried to pull it out while the
mower was running and got sucked in. (This was before safety
cutoffs.)

About six weeks later he was mowing the lawn again, and the
postman stopped and asked how he had injured his hand. He showed
him exactly how it happened. And cut it again.

After that I made a habit of looking over there every now and
then. My dad asked me what I was doing. I said if I could catch
Mr. Peterson out cutting his yard again, I was gonna run over and
ask him how he hurt his hand.

"No you won't," he said.
