All you really need to do to accomplish that is to get yourself an
alligator clip jumper (rat shack) and jumper between the two battery
terminals on the diode isolator. The jumpers are very light weight
(18-20 gauge or so) and so won't carry much current but one will carry
the trickle current necessary to keep the cranking battery topped off.

Were it me, I'd yank that diode isolator out and install a solenoid
relay but that's just me. The jumper is fine as long as you remember
to remove it before moving. Maybe get one of those red "remove before
flight" aircraft warning flags :-)

And what would happen if I forgot it? and left it connected?
Lots of blue smoke as the wire gets vaporized when you turn over the
starter and the house batteries try to contribute.

Lol. Well, I don't want that.

But I've definitely got to do something. This morning it's
12.2V. I've got it back on the charger. But having to put the
charger on it every 3 days is not my idea of how things are
supposed to be. That's not care-free traveling.

Can't go off on a trip operating like that.

I had the battery checked at Sam's. Their gizmo says it's good.
I turned off everything that can be turned off. I bought a fancy
schmancy multimeter to check current flow, and there's very
little. I performed the in-series light test. No light.

All to no avail.

I can see I'm going to have to start throwing bucks at the
problem. I'll look around for a reputable auto electric place,
and set the high dollar dogs on it. :o(

Another case where his filter causes him to miss good advice that is cheap and would solve his problem.
