All you really need to do to accomplish that is to get yourself an
alligator clip jumper (rat shack) and jumper between the two battery
terminals on the diode isolator. The jumpers are very light weight
(18-20 gauge or so) and so won't carry much current but one will carry
the trickle current necessary to keep the cranking battery topped off.
Were it me, I'd yank that diode isolator out and install a solenoid
relay but that's just me. The jumper is fine as long as you remember
to remove it before moving. Maybe get one of those red "remove before
flight" aircraft warning flags :-)
And what would happen if I forgot it? and left it connected?
Would the alternator output fry the wire? Would the
converter/charger output fry the wire at 45 A? How stout would
this wire need to be? I could make it any gauge, as it would
only be about 6 inches long.
This might be something I only used or needed while it is parked
at home.

Does your MH have a 12V power receptacle near the front dash?
What I did in my '73 Superior (which depleted the engine battery a couple of times, sticking brake light switch) was make up a heavy
cord with two 12V male plugs. The 12V power supply socket was just above the mirror so only a short cord connected it to the cigarette lighter.
The few times I used it to equalize the coach and engine batteries it worked perfectly.
