I never installed Service Pack 3. I'm running XP Home withFrom
SP2 and I do download the security patches when they are
offered as well as the "malicious" stuff removers.
I remember being anxious about SP3 doing something I didn't
want to the computer, but I can't remember what. I do not
want IE7. I rarely use IE at all as most web sites I go to
are now Mozilla compatible so why bother with more F'd up
Microsoft crap? Do I need SP3? Should I download it? What
does it do. It won't
tell me on the Microsoft site.
TIA,
Janet

FAQ: What you should know before installing Windows XP SP3
...
What's been fixed in XP SP3? Lots, according to the official
list that Microsoft published. The list, which you can view
here is long. By our count, the service pack contains 1,174
individual patches and hotfixes, essentially every one that
Microsoft's issued since it rolled out XP SP2 in 2004.
And the list is remarkably up-to-date. For example, the most
recent security patch that applies to Windows XP -- MS08-025,
a fix for a flaw in the kernel that was issued April 8 -- is
included. ...
It does not appear that I am having any problems with "flaws"
with SP2 or any other problems.
If I don't know what's broken, should I be trying to fix it?
Will fixing something that I don't know is broken, break
something else?
with no problems and some improvement.
one thing. I'll have to think about what else might be different.
I've sure as heck not noticed any negative results.

None. Go get a beer, sit down and watch that LCD TV in the living
room and chat with C. :-)

Yes, getting ready to head north.
Just kidding. I've made arrangements. :)

Just as well. :-)
