Depends what you mean, consider if a computer comes with say xp, and you have the recovery partition, or the cd's it came with, and you have upgraded it to vista, then setting it back to as factory shipped, is essentially an os change (vista to xp), but it will have all the drivers for as it was when new with xp.... (note i said new, not after 3rd party/upgrade stuff was added on)
are you saying you can't use the recovery cd's/partition to go back to what was originally factory installed? (even if the os changed) Will installing something like say vista or linux delete the stuff on the cd's the puter shipped with?
what if you replace/add a bigger hard disk to a computer, and install/reinstall/recover/restore/etc the original stuff, but the new disk had no os on it, since you think there are no system/kernal drivers in the factory supplied image (may be a better term than "the original stuff") does that mean the keyboard/display/mouse/etc won't work?
