Hardware is a Toshiba Satellite P105-S6024 Notebook with a 14.5 x 9
display and a Vizio VW26L HDTV with a 23 x 13 display.
They are connected with a RGB cable.
When I set the "wide" on the TV (changes the aspect ratio) to 4:3 the
display on the TV is approx. 15 x 10.5 and when I set it to 16:9 the
display is 20.5 x 10.5.
I'd like to fill the screen as much as possible while maintaining the
PC's aspect ratio. This would result in a display of approx. 21 x 13.
I'm asking both Toshiba & Vizio, but I thought I'd ask the experts
<g> here also.
The PC connection on a lot of HDTVs is real restricted as to
resolution choices. I went with a 24 inch widescreen LCD
display in order to avoid this problem. I am running at
1920x1200 right now, which is slightly higher vertically
than HDTV resolution.
Check the manual for the HDTV and see what is an acceptable
resolution settting to use over the PC connection.
