Listen to the excitement of the people, especially the kids and
imagine the memories they will have. It's refreshing to see some
good things and genuine enthusiasm once in a while in this day of
gloom and doom.
Note to the cynics. Please don't spoil this by complaining that we
are wasting taxpayer's money.
Programs like space exploration provides incentives for education,
research, manufacturing and science.
The Shuttle is not made in China.

Space exploration is one of the best ways to get kids interested in
math and science. The Shuttle is a very tangible way to see the
results of applied science. I have helped several of the engineers
who work on various shuttle systems and they seem to be some
of the easist people to teach that I have encountered. They are
very open to learning new things and finding out about new
technology that is more capable than what they are already using.
