Just hearing on the local radio, one staff Sergent has tendered his

I've wonder for some time now that based on what Obama's feelings are
towards the military, how many officers will be offering their
resignation or at least not re-up Could spell trouble for us if this
were to happen in large numbers.

Staff Sergeants can't resign. They either retire, if they have the
years, or don't re-enlist when their hitch is up. Enlistees are there
for the duration of their enlistment.

Antics with semantics! No matter the terminology, it appears the chap
is leaving the military.

Yours truly, Johnny Dollar!

The point it, an enlisted man can't make the same statement as an
officer. An officer can resign his commission at any time and leave
the service. Unless he has an obligation for the Academy or similar.

An enlisted man saying he's going to resign makes no point, since he
can't leave until his enlistment is over. It's not much of a
statement if he still has 2 years or so to serve before he can leave.
