Road runner does not allow sending out except through their connection. He
CAN however, go to the web interface of his email and do it there.

Hey, folk --
Got a friend visiting who can't send e-mail through my network from his
Dell laptop (very new). He has been able to do this before, but for some
reason on this visit it's not working. He can receive just fine but
cannot send. He set up a gmail account today as a temporary fix but
wants to be able to use his usual ISP, which is cable (carolina.rr.com).
The only thing I knew to do was to change the outgoing SMTP port to 587.
But I looked at it and it's already set at that.
He uses Outlook on Vista.
Advice, please?
