My cousin sat the thing out in Channelview, between Houston and
Baytown. The eye went right over him. Quite a bit of wind and
some rain, but the most damage was his fence blew down.

He's bitching because the electricity is off, and it's hot and
humid. I think the real story here is the storm surge. If you
were high enough, you came out okay. At least that was the story
with all my cousins. This storm was so big you can find any
result you want within it, from nothing much to devastation.

Here in central Texas, we didn't even get a sprinkle, and doesn't
look like we will. Bah.

Here in Wharton (~60 miles SW of Houston and due West of Galveston) - on
the "dry" side - we got some pretty fair winds and a bit of rain.

The squirrels aren't going to be too happy, though, since my Pecan crop is
now -quite prematurely - on the ground as is, I suspect, the case for the
rest of this area.

Since SWMBO is recovering from Wednesday's surgery we decided to ride it
out here.

This morning I called a friend in Houston who'd stayed and found that they
hadn't sustained any major property damage but are without power. This
could continue for a couple of weeks.

According to Houston TV there are reports of people burning down their
houses by "improper use of generators". It's my guess that they'd tried to
pour gasoline into the tank while the genset was still running.

Lol. My Cuz couldn't get his started. And couldn't figger why.
It started fine the last time he'd tried - two years ago.

Sounds like a plugged up fool line to me.
