If you read through all the comments it appears that Nelson's RV finally
gave in and agreed to sell him the trailer for the auction price.
Hi Dave,
I didn't read it through.... glad they decided to honor the auction.
What a bunch of liars though, saying the didn't have it when he first
tried to get it.
There are many small RV and car dealers in that part of town that I
automatically would not trust just as a matter of common sense self-defense.
The Nelson's don't strike me as a particularly notable example of the breed.
I tried to buy a motorhome from another small dealer in that general area
whose business plan seems to be to sell everything at a ridiculous price to
people with no sense of values. After seeing their tag team high pressure
sales tatics once there was no way I was sitting down in one of their sales
cubicles a second time. I called and offered the Blue Book price for the
motorhome I was interested in. They wouldn't talk to me unless I went in and
gave their sales people another chance to work me over. I wasn't *that*
interested in that particular motorhome. I haven't set foot on the place
since.
We have a large well known RV dealer here who works on pretty much the
same business plan. They offered to sell me a used motorhome for about twice
what it was worth. I could have bought a new rig for less than their price
on their rough around the edges used unit. When I declined the sales person
asked which numbers bothered me, the down payment or the monthly payment.
They could "work" on those numbers. LOL, of course they could. If I was dumb
enough to pay that price they could make the rest of the numbers dance and
sing a little song for me. I didn't bother to explain that we were planning
on making a cash purchase. They were still trying to tag team us as we went
out the door.
I did think the killer bee story was funny. You have to wonder how many
times they used that dodge successfully.
