@news.astraweb.com:
My Yahoo email account seems to be catching a bunch of gift certificate frauds. The ones where the gift card is waiting for you....
It seems that it may all be coming from a sale of my email address from, what I thought had been a legit site. Spam filters are all working well and the most I have in any one day on any one account is about 7 or 8.
That sounds like a Yahoo thing: we don't get them at any of our accounts.
I doubt if it was Yahoo. They are pretty clean. I started noticing them about 2 weeks ago. I think I had signed up on some web site that might have sold me out or gotten harvested. I wish they were legit. I'd have lots of gift cards for lots of stores and restaurants, a new computer, a new MP3 player and a bunch of other stuff <g>
Just today two emails told me that I had a $1,000 WalMart gift card waiting. I think these sites want you to fill out surveys so they can get your financial information. I don't bother with them.
SWMBO - the only PayPal account holder in the family - never gets the PayPal spoofs but, instead, they come to one of mine. <G>
I've long suspected that there's a thriving market for e-mail lists, just like phone number lists.
I never had a PayPal or an e-bay account and yet it seems that the information on those accounts is never up to date <g>
