Come on, pretend to have some integrity in your arguments. Those people
were turned back after the flood. If they had left NO before the hurricane
struck (remember that they had several days advance notice), none of them
would have been there to survive the aftermath of the flood.

I don't know what makes people think it's the governments
responsibility to bail them out of their own mistake.

You must have never seen the aftermath of a Katrina, Andrew, or Ruth.
The
devastation is total and complete, and it goes on for miles and
miles. Only a
government or a military is able to mobilize the kind of relief effort
that is required
during the phases of rescue and early parts of recovery.

People have dealt with the aftermath of disasters for millennia - and until
very recently they did it without government assistance. If the people of
NO had bothered to take care of themselves, rather than waiting for the
government to save their asses, most of the real disaster could have been
averted.
