LP Detector going crazy

I have searched the archives on this problem and read a lot of
answers, but still need to ask some questions.

I'm fairly new to owning a travel trailer, just bought a used 27'
Jayco Jay flight 2003. Had a fifth wheel prior but it had no LP
detector.

When I brought the camper home from buying it and unhooked it, the
detector went off for over five minutes before I even found where the
noise was coming from. I didn't even know campers had LP detectors.
But, after burning hundreds of fine hairs out of my ears forever, I
found the source.

I went out and checked to see if the tanks were on, they weren't, but
when I tugged at the valve a little (to shut it off more) the detector
stopped ringing.

I thought I had it fixed. But that must have been a fluke.

We plugged in the camper with power from our house, had no problem
with the detector for days until we unplugged that power source. Then
the detector started going off again. Plugged the power back in and it
stopped ringing.

Okay, the aux battery must be dead. But it wasn't, the battery was
full, according to the wall mounted battery check and by a hand held
tester. I checked the 30 amp aux battery fuse, it looked fine also.

Then I read in one of the archived post's that although the battery
may be "full," the volts may still be low enough for the LP detector
to go off? Does this mean I need a new battery, since it seems to be
fully charged?

As you can see I am confused why this LP detector is going off when
the 120AC power is unplugged.
