There are, of course, exceptions to most things, and in some places
such as Washington State, Flying Js are franchise rather than
company-owned, and that makes them non-competitive. I would be
interested in where you are, so I can take a look - there are a lot
of
real-time price lists online from Flying J, Loves, TA, etc that make
it easy to check.
The price increase over the compitition at the same exits started
several months ago and has increased lately.
The locations:
GA I-75 exit 320
KY I-24 exit 86
IN I-64 & SR-41
MO I-70 exit 188
GA I-85 exit 147
GA I-75 exit 201
The one in KY & MO were 10 cents a gallon higher on gasoline & the
others 3 to 5 cents higher than those staions at the same exits.
Many of us don't think in terms of gasoline, nor include stations that
cater to autos. In my case I'm not even going to use the FJ RV pumps =
- with a 300 gallon fuel tank I'm not often going to use a small
nozzle!
But just checking those two specific locations it doesn't appear that
the differences are that great. According to Gas Buddy, at 10:45 this
morning at the Kentucky location FJ was 3.81 and Pilot was 3.79. No
others listed there. In Missouri they only list FJ (3.85) but Mapquest
has everything else in the Warrenton area at around 3.90.
