I should have added that turning the key on from time to time for an
hour or so should accomplish what you are after. Your battery isolator
disconnects the two battery banks when your key is off to prevent you
from discharging your engine batteries while you are discharging your
coach batteries. That could really suck.

Thanks. It figures that I would misremember. I thought, mistakenly I
guess, that the isolator also worked in the other direction and would hook
them together when there was a charge flowing to the house batteries.

Do the house batteries charge when the chassis engine is running? Maybe
that's what I was misremembering...

I agree with Lon, the switch is "one way" when the ignition is off.

IOW, when the engine is running, the alternator charges both starter and
coach batteries.

When you are plugged into shore power, the coach batteries get charged but
not the starter battery.

When you turn on the ignition, in some configurations the coach battery
current can flow to the starter battery. I have not encountered that, but
have heard about it.
