That's absurd, Elliot. Besides, it looks cheap. You could have
a light but sturdy frame welded up for less than a third of that.
If I were you, I'd try out one of the pass through hitches that
were suggested, assuming you have a receiver hitch. Any number
of bicycle carriers would slip into that.
