Movies on-demand while RVing..

Anyone try movies on-demand with your laptop while traveling?

I'm impressed. I've run a standard SVGA cable to my HDTV along with a
3.5mm audio cable. It's like watching a regular DVD. No limits on how
many you watch using Netflix.. No, I don't own any stock in Netflix.

I am typing this on my laptop as a movie runs on my HDTV, full screen. I
set my HDTV as a expanded monitor. My laptop is an older Celeron,
nothing special.. I think many HDTVs have a standard SVGA input or, if
not, HDMI or DVI adaptors are available..

When I was traveling for biz last week, I watched a few movies via
Netflix online using my laptop and the hotel free wireless internet. Not
as good as on my HDTV or a pre-downloaded movie due to bandwidth
limitations but free (above the monthly subscription cost) and is a
better deal than paying the outrageous cost the hotel wanted for
on-demand movies.

I've tried Movielink and Vongo. Vongo charges you a subscription for
select movies. MovieLink charges you per movie, no subscription fee.
Netflix includes the movies with their regular subscription, unlimited,
but no pre-download (you must have a fast internet feed). Granted,
Vongo and Movielink let you download then watch later (Netflix requires
an internet connection at the time of viewing the movie) but Netflix is
basically a freebee if you already have a Netflix account.. Check it out
if you already have a Netflix subscription.. Try connecting your
computer to your TV too, you'll love the results if you already have an
HDTV.

This is the wave of the future. You won't need cable TV after a few
years. You'll be able to download all your TV. Netflix has regular
network series TV without commercials to watch. Others will follow, no
doubt.

BTW, if you haven't tried it at all and you don't always have internet
or you don't have a Netflix subscription, try Movielink.. You can
download when you do have a connection and watch it later. Great
quality.. You can download each show/movie individually with no
subscription charge, just a download charge per show/movie. They
sometimes have sales for 99 cents a movie. Download than watch later.
Requires some space on your hard-drive of course.. You also have to
watch it within a month of download otherwise it expires.
